Harp lesson FAQ:
What type of music do you teach?
I teach classical harp technique using the standard classical harp repertoire. I also teach music theory and beginning jazz and lead sheet reading.
Do I need a harp?
Yes, you must have your own concert tension lever or pedal harp, suitable for classical harp study. The easiest place to get a harp in the Philadelphia area is at the Virginia Harp Center, in Haddonfield, NJ. I recommend a visit to their showroom where you can learn about different types of instruments and what is the best choice for you.
What other materials do I need to take lessons?
All students are required to have the following equipment:
* Concert tension lever or pedal harp tuned regularly
* Adjustable bench
* Foot stool (for small students whose feet do not yet reach the floor)
* Chromatic tuner and pick up
* Tuning key
* Metronome
* Music Stand
* Music that I request you to purchase
* Replacement strings
Do you have openings in your studio?
Yes, however I require an audition/consultation before accepting a new student.
Where do lessons take place?
I teach in my home studio in the Art Museum neighborhood of Philadelphia as well as at Temple University.
How long are lessons?
Full length lessons are typically 60 minutes; short lessons (typically 30 minutes) are available for new students and younger students.
What is the fee?
The fee is $75 for a full length lesson and $45 for a short lesson. Payment for the entire month is due at the beginning of the month.
Can we arrange a meeting?
Yes, please email me to set up an audition/consultation or trial lesson.
